I had a great time at Crystal Ball this year. From the good times with all my good freinds at talkisdead to the fun at feast, the ball itself, and the fighting. I managed to win the first raper tourney with a 7-2 record then turn around beat Duke Valhalric in the finals of the armored tournament for a really great day. The highlight was beating Val, after he beat me in an earlier pool. I ended up taking both his arms, the second one at the same time he took my right arm, with a very nice bruise to prove it. But the best two fights of the day were my final pool fight against Sir Valdemar of Calontir. That was an awesome fight. He took my arm as I took his leg. Then we fought an epic chess match that I beat him only through endurance. My first fight of the day was the other, as I battled Savaric and he took me to the edge. That would be his only loss in the first pool. I continue to be impressed by the increase in his skill.

Feast was decent, if not real meaty. But meat from heaven appeared on my plate, so all was good. The company at feast was outstanding. During the break in the ball, I got to make my first appearance as a member of the Barony of Illiton as Their Excellencies allied their swords with Shattered Crystal against the Pirates of the Ridden Moon. We ask them to prove that they are good kingsmen.

A wonderful day, if not enough sleep and work now.

I have a bad habit of not wanting to deal with mail or other things until later. I try to take care of the most pressing things first but, as usually happens, postponing filing means waiting a year and a half to sort everything and put it in the filing cabinet. Yesterday was that day when everything got sorted and filed.

Thanks to the efforts of my lovely wife I was able to get it all done in one day. She is amazing at filing things. Now I can see the top of my desk.

First I want to get something straight right from the start. I am not interested in meeting anyone face to face, I prefer email role play to chat or messaging, that's not going to change, so don't waste your time asking. I decided to post here because I couldn't find anyone interested in writing taboo in any of the yahoo groups and pbem2 either takes forever to get someone replying to my request or no one ever does.

I love writing. I won't profess to being the best, but I do know how to use a spell checker and I rarely post one-liners, unless my writing partner doesn't give me something to work with.

After reading some of the posts here I almost chickened out posting myself. But then took a deep breath and figured what the heck. I do NOT want our stories to be just about sex. I get bored very easily and very quickly if the story is only sex sex sex. I am posting here because I want to write stories with taboo themes. STORIES, meaning plot. There has to be an interesting story and character interaction for me to remain interested.

I have limits. I am not comfortable writing gay or lesbian sex. No offense to everyone out there who is comfortable writing it. No sex toys, don't use them in real life, not interested in them in the stories either. NOTHING GROSS. Meaning no using my female character as if she's a toilet -YUK!! Try it and you'll lose me as a writing partner. No snuff, no torture. No mind control. NEVER CONTROL MY CHARACTER! (The caps should tell you how strongly I feel about anyone attempting to control my pc.) My character is my own, I prefer to control her thoughts, feelings and actions and will not take kindly to anyone trying to move her along in the story using the excuse 'I was just moving us forward' etc.. I will NOT control your character, return the favor and do NOT control mine for any reason. Thank you.

I want the stories to be more romantic than sleazy. They must be taboo or forbidden. I know that realistically there is nothing romantic about rape, but rape or attempted rape could be at the beginning of some of our stories.Below are just a few taboo story ideas:

1. Twins - They can be young adults or teenagers. Both were adopted and did not grow up together. It was just chance (fate?) that the two met and fell in love (not knowing that they are related). They find out that they are brother and sister from a relative who was shocked to learn that they are dating. Christine (my character) wants to do the 'right' thing and in her mind that means not dating her twin, but her twin brother doesn't want to pretend that nothing happened between them. (It's a sweet forbidden romance.)

2. Paying her Brother's Debt - Laura's older brother is a gambler. In the past he's always managed to somehow find the money to pay off his gambling debt that didn't involve his younger sister - except for stealing and selling some of her belongings a few times. Their parents died a five years back, drunk driver. They've taken care of each other ever since, though honestly, it's been more the younger sister taking care of her older brother. Sure he works, but she cooks, cleans, etc.. it's almost as if they are husband and wife instead of brother and sister. His gambling is ruining their lives, she's tried to convince him to get help, but her brother denies that he has a problem. Time is running out and her brother hasn't been able to get the money that he owes a very mysterious man. She's seen him a few times at the casino when she'd go there looking for her brother. He's handsome enough, but something about the way he looks at her always made her uncomfortable. He's asked her out several times and she's always turned him down. Her brother however looks up to this mysterious man and when he couldn't come up with the money he needed to save his ass, Laura's brother asked him for help. (More like begged for his help.) The rich mysterious man agrees to give him the money he needs to pay off his debt, but on the condition that Laura marries him first. By the way the rich mysterious man isn't really human. I'm thinking he's a werecreature, demon or vampire who recognized Laura as his fated soul mate. Need someone to role play the mysterious man, the brother would only be in the beginning of the story.

3. Father/Daughter - Couldn't think of a title for this one. The mother/wife has recently died, both father and daughter are taking it hard. Anna's father misses his wife terribly but tries to remain strong for his daughter's sake. A year later and Anna is shy and seems depressed to the point that her father sometimes worries that she's thinking of killing herself. The father isn't doing much better, he's tried dating but none of them are good enough, he can't stop comparing them to his deceased wife, and unfortunately, he's started to notice how much Anna resembles her mother..

I am looking for a male writing partner to write the males in the stories. Or a female writing partner if she's comfortable writing a male character. If none of these ideas appeal to you, tell me your ideas. :-)

It's a criminal shame that there are no books in print that celebrate the works of Berine Fuchs, Andrew Loomis or Robert Peak.

Rome Girl and I agree that Steven Soderbergh's The Girlfriend Experience is a very interesting movie.

That's the word we both used even though I really liked it and she was sort of "meh" about it. Her complaint is that you are never able to penetrate beneath the surface of the main character - a mid to high end escort played by Sasha Grey. She also complains that there's no dramatic denouement. It just sorta ends the way it begins with her feigning affection for yet another lonely man.

For me these are the movie's strengths. I get the sense that Soderbergh wanted to make a film that took away every expectation we have about movies about escorts and prostitutes.

She's not a drug addict. There's no evidence she was ever abused. She's not looking to fall in love with a client (though she does get a heavy crush on one who looks just like her boyfriend, but is much, much more successful.) She has a boyfriend at home who knows what she does for a living. She's not going to get arrested or contract HIV. She's not a nymphomaniac. She's not going to have a revelation that this is wrong and settle down with her boyfriend.

She's just going to keep doing her job. And she does work at it. She's doing well but not as well as she'd like. You see her talking to web designers and programmers trying to figure out how to increase her google rank.

She thinks about working for a high end pimp who claims he can get her Arab Shieks as clients. But she gets sketched out and walks away. The owner of an escort review publication tells her she'll get a great review if she gives him a freebie. She says no and he uses his site to trash her. She tries to write a book about what she does, but it goes nowhere.

There are a bunch of fascinating things going on here. For one, Sasha Grey is in real life a porn star. Since this is a movie about a prostitute, you'd expect a lot of sex scenes. You'd be wrong. The only time we see her naked is for about five seconds in a completely unsexual context. Instead almost every scene she's in is just a close up of her face. It's like he's saying "here's what you never look at when you see her, but here's what's really beautiful."

The other thing is how it's not about sex at all. It's about money. That's what everyone talks about constantly in the film. It's set right before the financial collapse and everyone is worried the collapse is going to happen and there's just this weird tension. Sex is the afterthought - the excuse for these men to have a woman they can talk to openly and honestly.

That's the real girlfriend experience.

Seriously, Rome Girl isn't that into rock and generally hates heavy metal and she thinks it's one of the best and most emotionally moving documentaries she's ever seen.

After watching this film she wanted to PayPal the members of Anvil money.

The best way to describe this film is that it's the Hoop Dreams of rock documentaries. There are moments in here that will make you cry, moments that will make you laugh and others that will make you want to scream against the injustice of life.

So, what's this movie about?

Well, back in 1983, Anvil had one album that sold well enough so that they could tour with Bon Jovi, Scorpions, Ozzy and other name metal bands. And they were beloved by people who knew metal. Slash, Lemme and Lars Ulrich are all interviewed and cite these dudes as major influences on their sound.

Then, they picked bad management and the wrong record company and while every friend they had in the industry became rich and famous, they didn't.

But, they never fucking gave up or broke up the band. Instead they spent the next two decades just trying to do it. Meanwhile they work the most menial jobs imaginable, try to raise families and just get kicked in the teeth by the music industry time and time again.

At one point they get hired to headline the "Monsters Of Transylvania Metal Festival." They are excited and scream "The Mayor of Transylvania is going to see us!"

Then, we see the show and the the subtitle tells us "Venue Capacity: 10,000. People in Attendance: 174."

They get booked to play a festival in Japan - only to get told when they show up that they are playing at 11:30 in the morning. In some random Eastern European city five people show up for their gig. Promoters screw them out of money. Record company executives treat them like shit. They end up having to mortgage their homes and borrow money from their siblings.

They simply will not be stopped. They are convinced they have what it takes - and even when they are over 50, won't give up.

You can not imagine how sad some of the moments in this film are. But, there are also moments that are completely uplifting to the soul.

What makes it work is that they are really nice guys. They aren't in it for the money or fame or anything. They just like to play music, know they are good at it and just trust that their two decade spate of bad luck has to end eventually.

It's an amazing bit of celluloid. Though, all that kept Rome Girl and I from wanting to blow our brains out when it was done was going to the Anvil website and finding out that VH1 picked them up after the movie came out and knowing that they are now going to play Irving Plaza, The Filmore, The House Of Blues and other places that will make all the shit they went through worth it.

This week was a lot of fun, aside from being up and down emotionally. I got to attend the Thigh Scream Social -- a roller derby skills camp – which was a great time. I enjoyed it so much that I think I’m going to join the men’s league here in town as soon as I figure out when and where practices are that won’t conflict with this weekend’s plans or my work schedule. I’d go to the practice with them Sunday, but I’m going to be in Chicago with hotarugirl. B)

After a very rough day at work, I am off to Crystal Ball for the weekend. Picking up Sean and then heading down to talkisdead then forgetting about work for a day, but I have stuff to do on Sunday, so only one day off this weekend. At least some of the stuff is contract work.

So far, not great, not awful.

It has potential, but it's very unclear if they have the imagination to realize it.

The power to stop time and not age while I got things done. Hands-down. Failing that, the ability to go without sleep so I could at least get eight extra hours (OK, 6) a day. Alternately, the ability to clone myself would be great, especially if I had access to the experiences and memories of all the clones. B)

I've repaired my chastity cage, yet again. I should post pictures, it's got 5 wraps of wire around it the keep the seams from seperating again. I wish I had molding equipment and make one of solid metal. Stainless steal would be best, but maybe hardened brass or something that would look pretty as well. There is a website that sells various items like that, but their chastity lock was $800+.

I'm playing scrabble and emailing Cute Geeky Girl about every day, out the blue on the last one she mentioned how she loves the emails for various reasons.
I told Girl Who Needs Therapy that her birthday present would be a little late and she made her appreciation quite clear.
I'm having all kinds of luck with women who aren't around. For some reason, this doesn't surprise me in the least.

I did not get weepy last night while cuddling Ev and thinking about being gone for three weeks. Not me, I am too hardcore for that. Really!

I'm returning to Boston tomorrow; my mother seems to be doing well enough that I think she can cope with being alone, and has a pretty good support structure; people keep dropping by, and the phone keeps ringing.

But C&E are out of town, and I think that being alone all weekend wouldn't be a good thing for me. So if anyone is interested in getting together Saturday or Sunday, afternoon, or evening, either to do something fun, or just to hang out and socialize, please let me know.

Sunday until 3 I'll be dancing; the rest of my time is open, and that feels like way more alone time than I want at the moment.

Usually I'm fairly sexually submissive, but the last two days I've been in a dominant mode.

Rome Girl isn't complaining, so it's not an issue. It's just strange.

But, it's also fun.
